A little background on why we chose this product:
- One of the number one things that customers ask about any of our products is – “Will this be safe for my pets?” – Keeping this in the forefront, as well as attempting to keep everything we do as environmentally friendly as possible so that we have peace of mind (just as you do) we found the best product possible, and local to boot!
- Since we specialize in lawn care products, we wanted something that would not damage your lawn of course. This ice melt will even help to keep your pH levels in balance to help with moss! (Do not go throwing it all over your lawn unnecessarily however)
- We choose a potassium chloride based ice melt instead of rock salt, because rock salt has an enormously negative effect on the environment – as it is toxic to vegetation and damaging to soil. The general impact of salt on grass, crops or vegetation is to impair or reduce growth.
What is an ice melter actually supposed to do?
Icemelters help to remove ice by breaking it down – first into smaller chunks, and finally into a liquid. Icemelters should not be confused with snow removal. Icemelters or deicers are designed to melt and break down the ice accumulations not the snow accumulations. In situations where there is ice and snow build up, it is best to remove the snow, using mechanical means such as shovels or snow blowers, and then use an ice melter to break down the ice into slush.
