Howdy Folks!
We have had a very cool spring thus far, in fact, I saw some hail mixed in with the rain again yesterday for a brief moment.
That being said; The temperatures now look to be getting steadily into optimal germination range. If you have not applied your seeds for seeding, or over-seeding you will want to do that now! If you have not yet ordered your Care Packs for this year, you may also want to consider doing that in the near future, so that you can get your lawn looking nice for the summer and enjoy some barbecues, or whatever you enjoy to do in your yard.
If you have already put your seed down that is okay, but you may have noticed it is taking a bit longer to germinate than normal. That is to be expected with lower than normal temperatures. Ideally you want the soil itself to be consistently at 10 degrees + for optimal germination rates. The seed germination rates are on your watering info sheets, but just in case you do not have those handy; There are multiple varieties of seed in our BC blend and they range from about 7 days to 21 days to start germinating in ideal temperatures, so you may be looking at more like a month for it to fill in should the seeds have been applied in cooler temperatures.
We at MyLawn.Care have taken all of this into account and blended lawn Care Packs specifically to perform in the BC lower mainland, so that you do not need to worry about this and can just spread the Care Pack and enjoy the results!
