Spring 2022 Update and Reminder

We hope that everybody is doing well this year 2022 so far. This is our early year updates as well as being a reminder to order your seasonal lawn care solutions for 2022.

This last month or so in BC has been quite mild and allowed us to enjoy some nicer weather early in the year. I have heard the first robin chattering away in the trees, lots of people out enjoying the outdoors, caterpillars on the patio, a bat flying around looking for the early bugs in the evening – all welcoming sights and sounds to our seasonal changes!

There was an email that went out a little while ago to our email subscribers that will be relatively similar to this blog post. There are a few differences. This post is intended to update our website and for social media followers as well.

Updates so far this year:
  • Annual Programs: We were finding that the fertilizer was not quite lasting long enough in some cases with 3 fertilizers per year. All Care Pack Programs, and full service programs are now modified to include 4 annual fertilizers.
    • For the online store – the old programs are still on there under “Original”. They will stay there for this spring to see if people still want the old program, however it makes the store a bit convoluted. The additional fertilizer will not only keep the lawn a more even colour throughout the year, but will help with weeds by keeping the nitrogen levels higher. Click here to see those.
  • Contests and Giveaways: Our Spring 2022 Care Pack Giveaway will start just before March, so stay tuned for that!
  • Current Care Pack Subscription Holders: If you currently have a subscription under the “original” program, you are welcome to keep that, however if you want to upgrade to the new program you will have to cancel it and re-subscribe to the new one. If you choose to do this and have any problems, do not hesitate to contact us.
  • Upcoming Store Additions:
    • Moss Killer will be added to both the store and to the full service menu very shortly, it was tested last year and we have it in stock, it just needs to have the packaging sizes and spread rates set up properly.
    • Nutra-Mulch will also be added. While we were not advertising this last year, it was provided upon request. This is a unique and versatile product that can be used to amend existing sandy and clay type soils or as a ground cover (like bark mulch) in your garden beds. It aids in moisture retention and weed suppression. It is comprised of 50% composted green waste (from the green bins collected) and 50% hemlock mulch. If put down in a thick layer, the continuous composting will help to deter weed growth by burning them out due to the heat generated by natural composting over time.
    • Additional strains of nematodes for weevils, flea beetles, and leatherjackets.
  • Pricing Increases: Prices have increased pretty much across the board. (If you currently hold a subscription, you are locked in and pricing will not be changed unless you cancel/change your subscription) Seed has increased significantly, which is primarily due to hotter summers causing less yield from grass crops. This combined with more people at home during the pandemic has caused silos to run dry. Costs could be reduced by sacrificing some strains for a lesser quality, but that is not our mission. Fertilizer has gone up due to shipping issues.
  • Staggered Pricing: Due to the high cost increases, we have staggered the pricing at higher volumes. This was never done before because we did not want customers to order the wrong size because of “buying more for a better deal”. The products are intended to be fully used upon receiving them, so that they are always fresh and there is as little waste as possible, and so, we want you to order the correct size for your particular grass area. This is still our mission, so we will change it back if this becomes a problem. We do not want unnecessary waste, or improper disposal of course! The goal is that you do not need extra storage space, and very few tools.
  • Company changes: We are now incorporated. My original business partner went back to his original field at the end of 2019 (on good terms), so it was time to change the set up anyway. We are now officially called My Lawn Care Inc. Everything else will stay the same.
  • Employee notes: As we are getting busier, you will start to see some other employees more often. We will start some employee spotlight blog posts in the near future so that you can get to know them a bit better!
  • Tutorial Videos: We have added a short tutorial video to our YouTube channel to help you with your Lawn Care Packs. A link will be added to all of the applicable store pages. You can see that here.

We at MyLawn.Care have taken all of this into account and blended lawn Care Packs specifically to perform in the BC lower mainland, so that you do not need to worry about this and can just spread the Care Pack and enjoy the results!
